Acoustic Solutions
In today’s modern workplaces, creating an optimal environment for productivity and wellbeing is crucial. One often overlooked aspect is the impact of acoustics on employees’ comfort, wellbeing & efficiency.
Thankfully, there are many solutions to address issues like these – this is where our acoustic solutions come in.
Excessive noise and poor sound management can lead to decreased concentration, increased stress levels, and reduced overall job satisfaction.
Explore our comprehensive range of office acoustic services & solutions that can transform your workspace into one more harmonious and productive.
Do you find yourself vying for quiet space in the office?
Do you experience voice echo even at normal level speech?
Do those on the other end of video or voice calls comment on how tinny or echoey you sound?
Is the chat from your meeting rooms or board rooms heard all too intelligibly from outside or in the rooms adjoining?
Our Solution
THINK have a huge range of exclusive acoustic treatments and products including wall panels, ceiling baffles, rafts, lamp shades, furniture, meeting pods and even acoustically rated natural materials like mycelium, moss and cork.
Initially we create a comprehensive acoustic model of the space using either empirical formula or electronic assessment equipment.

Initial In-Person Consultation
Like all projects the process starts with a call or an email to share initial thoughts.
We provide a full suite of acoustic services, taking projects from inception through the stages of: planning, design, tender, construction, commissioning and handover.
Whether you are considering a new build, refurbishing an existing space or just upgrading your current work environment to better suit your needs; we’re here to help.
For new builds, inspection of architect drawings will be the next step. For existing spaces, a site survey early in the process will be required to gather data on the size of the space and the scale of the problem.
Space Audit
Depending on the nature and scope of the project an electronic assessment may be required.
Here our qualified Acousticians use diagnostic equipment to determine sound reverberation times & noise transfer levels between rooms. Diagnostic software allows us to generate Acoustic Room Modelling – providing us with guidance on solution type, material selections and coverage required.
Our acoustic testing services encompass
- Sound insulation testing.
- Prototype and mock-up testing.
- Commissioning testing for BREEAM, LEED, and WELL.
- Baseline surveys.
- Measurement of speech intelligibility.
- Measurements of internal noise levels.
- Measurements of noise from mechanical services.
- Problem-solving and mitigation advice.
- Complaints investigation and post-occupancy surveys.
3D Space Modelling
Various spaces have distinct acoustic needs. For instance, in educational settings like classrooms or lecture halls, ensuring clear audibility and speech intelligibility for the instructor is crucial. Achieving optimal acoustic conditions entails controlling the reverberation time (RT Time), which refers to the duration it takes for sound echoes to decay, within specific parameters while mitigating other acoustic irregularities.
THINK employs computer software to generate 3D models of rooms, enabling us to assess their acoustic performance beforehand. This tool aids us in providing guidance to architectural teams during the design phase. It is also invaluable for evaluating and optimising the acoustics of existing spaces that either fail to meet requirements or are slated for a change in function where acoustic considerations become significant.
Our expertise in this approach spans a diverse range of projects, encompassing educational facilities, concert halls, religious institutions, retail complexes, recording studios, lecture venues, theatrical spaces, and office environments
Solution Building
Creating exceptional acoustic spaces demands a blend of site audits and 3D sound modelling. Site audits assess the unique acoustic fingerprint of a space, considering factors like size, shape, and materials. 3D modelling software then simulates sound propagation, allowing real-time visualisation of design impacts. This combination facilitates collaboration among architects, engineers, and acoustic consultants, enabling fine-tuning of acoustic elements.
The process ensures tailored solutions for diverse environments, from offices to concert halls, resulting in immersive and optimised acoustic experiences. Through this comprehensive approach, abstract concepts are transformed into tangible realities, elevating the way we interact with our surroundings.
Implementation
The installation of office acoustic treatments involves a methodical process. It begins with a comprehensive design plan, followed by the selection of high-quality products. Acoustic panels and treatments are then installed according to the plan, integrating seamlessly with existing décor. Post-installation testing ensures effectiveness, with adjustments made as needed. A final inspection and client walkthrough complete the process, ensuring satisfaction and providing maintenance guidance.
Our Acoustic Treatments
Check out our varied acoustic treatment solutions – everything you need for the perfect, peaceful space.
Acoustic treatments encompass a variety of techniques and materials designed to control sound within a space, improving its overall acoustic environment.
These treatments can be broadly categorised into several types based on their primary function and application.
By combining these various types of acoustic treatments, designers and acoustic consultants can create customised solutions tailored to the unique acoustic requirements of any space, whether it’s an office, recording studio, canteen, classroom or townhall space.
Sound Absorption
Sound absorption materials are used to reduce the reflection of sound waves within a space, thereby decreasing reverberation and improving speech intelligibility. Commonly used materials include PET felt acoustic panels, foam, fabric-wrapped panels, fiberglass, and acoustic ceiling tiles.
These materials absorb sound energy, preventing it from bouncing back into the room and creating echoes.
Sound Diffusion
Sound diffusion is the scattering of sound waves in multiple directions, creating a more balanced acoustic environment with reduced acoustic “hot spots” and standing waves.
Diffusers are designed to break up sound reflections by dispersing sound energy evenly throughout the space. They are often used in combination with absorption materials to achieve optimal acoustic balance.
Sound Isolation / Sound Transfer
Sound isolation and transfer treatments are used to minimise the transmission of sound between different areas or rooms within a building. This helps prevent noise leakage and ensures privacy in sensitive environments such as offices, conference rooms, and recording studios.
Sound isolation techniques may include the use of acoustic seals and gaskets on doors, cross talk attenuators in HVAC systems and double-wall construction.
Ceiling Rafts and Baffles
Ceiling rafts and baffles are suspended acoustic panels that hang from the ceiling to absorb sound reflections and reduce reverberation. They are particularly effective in large open spaces with high ceilings, such as auditoriums, gymnasiums, and atriums.
Ceiling clouds and baffles can be customised in various shapes, sizes, and colours to complement the aesthetic of the space.
Acoustic Partitions and Screens
Acoustic partitions and screens are freestanding or modular panels used to create separate acoustic zones within a larger space. They provide visual privacy as well as acoustic separation, making them ideal for open-plan offices, classrooms, and collaborative workspaces.
Acoustic partitions and screens are available in a range of materials, designs, colours, shapes and sizes.
Room Acoustics Optimisation
In addition to specific acoustic treatments, room acoustics optimisation involves the strategic placement of furniture, drapes, rugs, and other furnishings to further enhance sound quality and control.
By adjusting the acoustics of the space as a whole, room optimisation techniques can complement and enhance the effects of other acoustic treatments.
